Press release for
The Ian Devey Award for Outstanding Achievement.
The children of Blue Coat
C.E. (A) Infant School in
Hanch
Place gathered with eager anticipation this week
to find out who had been chosen to receive the Ian Devey Outstanding Achievement
Award for 2010.
Walsall born Mr Devey was a long standing, highly regarded
member of staff at the school who sadly passed away at the start of this
academic year. His family, who knew how much
BlueCoatInfant School meant to him, made the
decision to donate a trophy in his honour.
Elwira Kacperska, who
recently had her 7th birthday, was delighted to receive the award
.Her parents were there to share the moment. Elwira, who moved to the school
from
Poland
as a Year One pupil, has made outstanding progress in all areas of learning and
has been a shining example to her fellow pupils. Her end of Key Stage
Assessments were all well above average and she participated with enthusiasm in
all areas of school life.
Head Teacher, Janet Davies
said:
‘ It was an honour to work
alongside Ian Devey, who was hugely ambitious for the pupils in his care. This
is a fitting tribute to him and I am grateful to his family for making it
possible.
Elwira has worked diligently,
supported by her family every step of the way and has been rewarded with
outstanding results. We are delighted to celebrate her success. Our good wishes
for the future go with her to
JuniorSchool.’
