Beehive

Welcome to Reception’s Beehive

    –the place where you can

“get busy” finding activities and

ideas to help you learn.

Many of the items here will match

the things you are finding out about at school right now.

Summer 2010

This term we will be finding out where our food comes from (not just “from the shops”.

Why don’t you…

Get a paper plate and make your favourite dinner by drawing, making models with paper and glue or by cutting our pictures from magazines.

Talk to your child about healthy eating. Do they have fruit or vegetables with every meal? Maybe, visit a fruit and veg shop and let your child choose something they haven’t tasted before.

We will be visiting Ash End Farm in July (we’ll send a letter soon) and will be meeting lots of different animals.

Why don’t you…

Decorate an egg, or give it a funny face. To make hair you could cut off the top of the shell, put some cotton wool in side, sprinkle on some cress seeds, water them and watch them grow!

Does your child know what baby animals are called? What questions can your child think of which we will be able to find the answers to when we visit the farm?

e.g. What do cows eat? How big is a chicken?
