Following all the children's hardwork during their SAT's, we would like to say a big thank you for your support at this time.
WRITING
Writing fact files about animals. Writing in sentences we will be writing reports on such things as appearance, where it lives, what it does and anything interesting about it.
We will be focusing on punctuation.
Here is a piece you can work on at home!
A young boy has written this story, but he does not know about punctuation.
Can you put in the capital letters, full-stops, commas, question marks, exclamation marks and speech marks for him?
morris the martian was flying around the solar system one day when he saw a strange light in front of him what is that he thought to himself morris was scared but he flew a little bit closer so that he could see it better hello he called out there was no reply hello is anyone there he called but again there was no reply suddenly a creature appeared in front of the light boo it shouted poor morris was really scared and he flew off home and hid under his bed
Because Year 2 are
having an RML reading week this week it means that the first week back at
school after the Easter holidays we will be writing every day.
We aim to share a
variety of children’s stories with our writing groups which contain strong
characters. The children will be using drama techniques and practicing speaking
in sentences before writing descriptions of chosen characters.
MATHS
Estimating and measuring lengths, weight, liquids and time. We will be using cm, m, g, kg, l, ml, mins and hours.
We will be using subtraction to find the difference between two measures in practical situations.
To be able to recognise simple fractions and find halves and quaters of sets of objects and small numbers.
To understand multiplication and division and remember all multiplication and division facts for 2, 5 and 10.
Continuing with the
second week of our maths we will count on and back in steps of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
and 10. We will use questions such as “What is 4 multiplied by 6?”, “How many
3s make 21?” and “Can 113 be a multiple of 5? How do you know?”
The children will
divide a number of objects by grouping them.
