All our children make good progress. We teach in ability sets from Reception onwards for English and Year One for Mathematics. These groups vary in size and are routinely smaller than class sizes.
Our synthetics phonics approach to teaching of reading, writing and spelling, starting in Nursery, significantly impacts on
learning. Our successes have featured on BBC Breakfast television and Radio Five Live.
As children learn in different ways, a variety of teaching
strategies allow pupils to experience real pleasure when a new skill is acquired or a fresh concept grasped.
Careful monitoring and assessment of progress ensures that children are given extra support when needed and a higher level of challenge when appropriate.
Our comprehensive tracking of pupil progress enables all
children to be involved in the setting of learning targets, encouraging them to assess their own performance.
Interactive white boards, projectors, digital cameras and
camcorders, computers and laptops are used by children and staff to enhance and accelerate learning.
Exciting topics ensure that children are fully engaged in
acquiring knowledge, skills and understanding as part of our broad and balanced curriculum. |
